Rahu in the 6th House

Ripu Bhavaenemies, debts, disease, service, daily work

One of Rahu’s strongest placements. In the house of enemies and competition, its ruthlessness becomes an asset — opponents are outmanoeuvred rather than out-argued, and litigation goes well. Excellent for competitive fields and for work involving foreign clients or unconventional service. Debts are managed by taking more of them, successfully.

Classical note: Dusthana and upachaya both — Rahu here destroys the difficulty rather than suffering it.

The house and the graha

The 6th house is the obstacles you overcome by labour, governing enemies, debts, disease, service, daily work. Rahu (Rahu) is a shadow planet — amplifying, unbounded, hungry and signifies obsession, foreign things, ambition, illusion; its drive is to want more, to break rules, and to reach past its station.

The house's nature

The 6th is a dusthana (difficult house), where planets deliver results through struggle, delay, or transformation. Interestingly, a malefic like Rahu often performs *better* in a dusthana than a benefic would — classical astrology holds that malefics in the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th (the upachaya houses) and in dusthanas can destroy the difficulty rather than suffer it.

What changes the reading

Three things modify this placement more than anything else: the sign Rahu occupies (see Rahu through the signs), the aspects it receives — Jupiter's aspect can rescue a difficult placement and Saturn's can sober an easy one — and the strength of the 6th house lord. Read this as one factor, not a verdict.
