Rahu in the house of dissolution and foreign lands is a reliable indicator of life lived abroad, and of a pull toward the hidden that becomes genuinely spiritual in the second half of life. Expenditure is heavy and sometimes unexplained. Sleep and dreams are disturbed. What is being sought here is not, in the end, material.

Interestingly, a malefic like Rahu often performs *better* in a dusthana than a benefic would — classical astrology holds that malefics in the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th (the upachaya houses) and in dusthanas can destroy the difficulty rather than suffer it.
