Also called Paayal, Golusu, Anklets
Anklets, traditionally of silver, often strung with small bells.
Like bangles, they announce movement. Silver is used rather than gold because in many traditions gold is associated with deities and is not worn below the waist — a convention still widely observed.
Called golusu in Tamil and Telugu, painjan in parts of Maharashtra.
Solah Shringar is a cultural tradition rather than a requirement — lists differ by region, and including or omitting any item is an ordinary family choice.
