Ruchaka Yoga

Sanskrit: “brilliant, radiant

How it forms

Mars in its own sign (Aries or Scorpio) or exalted (Capricorn), placed in a kendra — the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from the Lagna.

What the tradition says

One of the five Pancha Mahapurusha yogas, said to produce physical courage, command, and success in fields requiring decisiveness — military, surgery, engineering, athletics, or enterprise built on nerve.

An honest reading

Mars strong in a kendra genuinely does emphasise drive and confrontation in a chart. Whether that reads as leadership or as a temper depends on what else aspects Mars and which houses it rules for you.

A note on how to hold any of this: a yoga is one feature of a chart among many, and no combination decides a life on its own. Classical texts frequently disagree on exact conditions, and a yoga’s effects are traditionally read as arriving during the dasha periods of the planets involved rather than continuously. Be particularly wary of any reading that names a difficult yoga and then offers to sell you the cure.
