Full planning covers venue and vendor sourcing, negotiation, budget management, design and décor direction, guest logistics, and on-the-day execution across every function — typically with a lead planner and an on-ground team per event. Partial planning (last 60–90 days) and day-of coordination are cheaper tiers most firms also offer. Ask which tier a quote actually covers; the gap between “we’ll manage everything” and a contract is where budgets slip.
Indian planners price three ways: a flat fee, a percentage of the wedding budget (commonly 8–15%), or free-to-you commission models where the planner earns from vendors — which is never actually free, since it shapes which vendors you see. Always ask which model applies, what is excluded, and how vendor commissions are handled. Get the payment schedule in writing against milestones, not dates alone.
Ask to see a full wedding they ran in the last year (not a showreel); who exactly will be on the ground at each function and their backup; how many weddings they take on your date and weekend; a line-item sample budget for your guest count; how they handle vendor advances and refunds if a function changes; whether décor is in-house or subcontracted; and for two client references you can call. A professional answers all seven without flinching.
