Mercury has been retrograde since June 30 and goes direct on July 24 — so we're in the final stretch of this cycle right now. It felt like the right moment to open this thread.
Retrograde gets a bad reputation online, but the classical view is more interesting than the memes. Astronomically it's an optical effect — Mercury isn't actually moving backward, it just appears to as Earth overtakes it. Astrologically, tradition reads it as Mercury's significations turning inward: communication, contracts, travel, and technology ask to be reviewed and revised rather than launched. Jyotish adds a nuance most people miss — a retrograde planet (vakri) is often considered strong, its energy intensified and internalized, not broken.
So rather than the usual horror stories, I'm curious about the full picture:
Did anything this cycle actually feel "retrograde" for you — miscommunications, delays, tech acting up, old contacts resurfacing? Or was it business as usual? Has anyone found retrograde periods genuinely good for certain things — revisiting old projects, rewriting, reconciling, finishing what was left half-done? And for those who follow their own chart: does it land differently for you depending on where Mercury sits natally, or which dasha you're running?
One request in the spirit of this community: real experiences over doom. Nothing in the sky is out to get anyone — retrograde is a season, not a sentence.
