Combining dasha and transit

The two-key principle

The tradition treats timing as requiring agreement between two independent systems. The dasha says a matter is live; the transit says now. Neither alone is considered sufficient.

Practically: identify which house is in question, check whether the running dasha or antardasha lord relates to that house, and then check whether a slow transit is currently activating it. When both point the same way, you have a window.

The double transit

A specific principle worth knowing: many practitioners look for Jupiter and Saturn both transiting a house, or its lord, before expecting significant developments in that house’s affairs.

Because Jupiter takes twelve years and Saturn twenty-nine and a half to cycle, their simultaneous involvement with any given house is relatively infrequent — which is part of why it is treated as significant when it happens.

What resolution is honest

A mahadasha is years. An antardasha is months to years. A slow transit is months. Combining them narrows a window to perhaps three to six months, and that is genuinely the limit of what this method supports.

Anyone naming a specific date is either using an additional technique they should disclose, or overstating. Pratyantardasha can narrow further in principle, but its periods are frequently shorter than the uncertainty in most people’s recorded birth times, which makes the added precision illusory.

Working an example

Suppose someone asks about career change. The 10th house is in question. Check: is the running dasha or antardasha lord connected to the 10th — ruling it, sitting in it, or aspecting it? Suppose the antardasha lord is the 10th lord. That is the first key.

Then check transits: is Jupiter or Saturn currently transiting the 10th house, or the 10th lord’s natal position, from the Moon? Suppose Jupiter is. That is the second key.

The honest statement: the coming several months emphasise career matters and are a reasonable window to act in. Not: you will change jobs in March.

Pick a house you are interested in.
Check whether your current dasha or antardasha lord relates to it — by rulership, placement or aspect.
Check whether Jupiter or Saturn is currently transiting that house or its lord, counted from your Moon.
If both hold, write the window as a range of months, framed as emphasis rather than event.
If only one holds, write down what that means: a matter that is live but not yet triggered, or a trigger with nothing behind it.
